What we do
- Battery backup for home, sized by load and backup hours
- Adding a battery to existing solar
- Solar battery installation for new systems
- Critical loads panels for the circuits you choose
- Backup gateway and transfer equipment installation
- Whole-home backup, with a panel upgrade if needed
- Panel and circuit work for Tesla Powerwall systems
- Permits and SCE or PG&E interconnection applications
- Battery-ready panels and conduit for a future system
Signs a home battery makes sense
- Your solar shuts off when the grid goes down.
- You are adding solar under the Net Billing Tariff.
- Your utility has warned you about fire-season power shutoffs.
- You want backup with no fuel, noise, or exhaust.
- Evening peak rates drive most of your bill.

Tap Get help now and tell us your utility, whether you have solar, and what must stay on in an outage. A year of usage data from your utility account helps us size the battery.
Size and design
We match battery energy in kWh to how long you need backup, and power in kW to what starts at once. Then we choose whole-home or critical-loads backup.
Permit and utility paperwork
We pull the permit from the city or the county. For a battery that connects to the grid, we file the interconnection application with SCE or PG&E.
Install and commission
We mount the battery and install the gateway. We move your chosen circuits to the backup panel and set up the monitoring app with you.
Inspection and approval
After the inspection passes, the utility issues permission to operate. Then we run an outage test with you so you know what stays on.
What changes the price
Every bid starts with a look at the site. These are the things that move the number.
- Battery capacity in kWh drives the equipment cost. More hours of backup means more capacity.
- Whole-home backup needs a gateway or transfer device at the service, and sometimes a new panel. Partial backup uses a critical loads panel instead.
- Starting a well pump or central AC takes a battery with a high surge rating, or a soft starter on the motor.
- Adding storage to existing solar may call for an AC-coupled battery or a new hybrid inverter.
- Code limits how much power can feed a panel's busbar. Some homes need a new panel or a different connection point.
- Mounting location matters. An outside wall beside the panel is simpler than a garage across the house.
Notes for the Central Valley
The California Net Billing Tariff took effect in April 2023 for new SCE and PG&E solar customers. People often call it NEM 3.0. Exports earn less under it, so storing midday solar for the evening is worth more.
If your solar is on an older net metering plan, ask your utility how a battery affects that plan before you sign.
A Public Safety Power Shutoff can last more than a day. A battery paired with solar can recharge in daylight, while a battery alone runs down.
Valley summer heat shortens battery life and can limit output. We place batteries out of direct afternoon sun when the site allows.
Building and fire codes set where a battery may go. Garages and outside walls at least 3 feet from doors and windows into the house are common. Sleeping rooms and living spaces are off limits.
Where we do this work
We take this work within about 60 miles of Visalia, in towns such as Visalia, Farmersville, Tulare, Dinuba, Woodlake, and Lindsay. Each town page names the permit office and the utility, and lists other local shops. See every town.
Questions people ask
How much does a home battery backup system cost?
The price of a home battery backup system turns on capacity, backup type, and your panel. More kWh costs more. Whole-home backup costs more than a critical loads panel. Panel upgrades, long conduit runs, and adding storage to older solar add cost. We put the price in writing after we size the system to your loads.
How big a battery do I need for my home?
Size it by what must run and for how long. A fridge, lights, Wi-Fi, and a few outlets need far less than central AC. We check your usage and your outage goals. Then we match kWh to the runtime you want and kW to the startup surge.
Can I add a battery to my existing solar?
Yes, most grid-tied solar systems can add a battery. An AC-coupled battery works beside your current inverter. Some homes switch to a hybrid inverter instead. We review your inverter, your panel, and your utility plan before we quote the job.
Is a home battery worth it under NEM 3.0?
Storage adds more value under NEM 3.0 than under older plans. Exported solar now earns much less, on average, than the evening price you pay. A battery stores midday solar and runs the house through the evening peak. It also keeps power on in an outage, which grid-tied solar alone cannot do.
Do I need a permit for a home battery?
Yes. A battery needs a permit from the city building department or the county, and building and fire codes set where it can go. A garage unit may also need a guard against vehicle impact. A grid-tied battery runs with the grid only after SCE or PG&E grants permission to operate. We handle both steps.
Do you handle Tesla Powerwall installation?
We do the electrical work that gets a home ready for a Powerwall, such as panel upgrades, backup panels, and new circuits. Tesla sells Powerwall itself and through installers it approves, so check Tesla's purchase and warranty terms before you hire anyone. We also install other battery systems that fit your home.
Battery or generator: which is better for home backup?
A battery is quiet, needs no fuel, and takes over faster than a standby generator. A generator runs as long as it has fuel and starts big loads like central AC more easily. Batteries pair well with solar. Generators suit long outages with little sun. Some homes use both.
